Our new house has a "formal dining room". We aren't a formal dining kind of family, however. So i've been on the hunt for weeks for just the right table to in-formalize the space! My goal was to find a table that seats 8, but that we can expand to seat 12 for holidays, parties and Sunday dinners. I loved the idea of a reclaimed wood table that would contrast beautifully with very proper wainscotted walls and silver candelabras. Most of what I was finding was in the U.S. And then I happened upon Provenance Harvest Tables in Sutton, Ontario. A family-run business, they custom make furniture from reclaimed, century-aged wood from old Ontario barns and buildings. I fell in love with their Royal Trestle model (pictured above), and together we designed a table to meet my specifications. I am thrilled that my new table will be ethically sourced, made locally, and supports a family-run business. Pictures to come of the table in my dining room in about 4 weeks. Provenance Harvest Tables also makes beds, benches, chairs and more.
